I caved to the kickstarter temptation last year with the Bombshell Babes Kickstarter, run by Bombshell Miniatures. Their kickstarter (now complete) was to produce models and moulds for a range of female miniatures, and since good female miniatures are relatively hard to find and their concept art looked good I took the plunge.
Well, the miniatures arrived last week – there was a bit of a hiccup as the reinforcement packs I ordered weren’t in the package, but a quick message has them on their way – and I’m very impressed by both the quality of the sculpting and the quality of the miniatures!
They’ll be releasing these for regular orders soon – keep an eye on their website for updates.
I (once the reinforcements arrive) will have gotten 27 metal miniatures, a bunch of resin base inserts, smaller metal sidekick models (I’ll show them later), and a couple of sprues of weapons, all for $182.
Here’s what I’ve received so far:
I really like all of the miniatures, but if I had to pick a favourite it would be Geirahod the Valkyrie (first Valkyrie model I’ve ever seen!).
In addition to the above miniatures, there were also these:
These are the various sidekick miniatures – they’re small, with the bases around 1cm wide. But they’re really cute – I’ll surely find some kind of use for them!
There’s a bunch of miscellaneous weapon sprues – a mix of fantasy and sci-fi weapons.
And finally, there’s a bunch of resin base inserts. The smaller ones fit on 30mm rounded edge bases (warmachine bases), and I think will fit on top of 25mm GW ones (which is how I’ll be using them). The bigger ammo dump I’m not sure what I’ll use for just yet.
All of the scupting and casting is of very high quality – a couple of the pieces were bent, but that’s easily fixable because they’re all metal. There’s minimal to no flashing, with only a couple of pour and vent points to be trimmed.
The nicest thing about these models is that they’re very nice, tastefully done female models, which is in general something that’s rather difficult to find. Only Maelee, Nowada, Delzira, and the relics have bared midriffs (and for Noawada and Delzira it’s justified) – the rest are in appropriate attire for their characters.
As I’m (barring the new napoleonics) collecting and painting random miniatures which catch my eye now, I think I’ll have fun painting up these ones. They’ll find places in my figure cases for various RPGs.
